DOXZILLA LEARNING
Ages 6 to 8: why did they do that?
At this age, children practise saying what they see and guessing why. A wrong guess is half the fun, and a child who writes slowly can draw or tell the answer instead. Pick a film, watch it together, then ask one question and listen.
273 titles · 1,146 episodes suited to this age
Reading each title
Each title tells you what it is about, which skills it practices, what to say before you watch, one question to ask after, something to try, and a question for the family. Start tonight at home.
Prep levels for tough scenes
Each title has a number from 0 to 3 that tells you how much to prepare before your child watches. It helps you decide faster. It does not say whether a film is good or bad.
- 0
- No scenes to prepare for. Press play.
- 1
- A short, mild scene. Know it is there, and be ready to answer briefly if your child asks.
- 2
- Scenes that may upset or sadden a child. Watch that part first, tell your child ahead of time, and stay close.
- 3
- Heavy, graphic or long scenes. Watch it yourself first, decide with your child, watch together, and talk afterward.
The level comes from the episode summaries and is a first guide. You can always watch the opening first and stop at any time. If the story is close to your child’s own life, treat it as one level higher.
